Welcome to the Career Path Section!
A big part of feeling self-worth is related to what career you decide to pursue. Whether its working for yourself or working for another company, choosing a career path or changing one you currently have can become a stressful decision.
In the end of the day, we all want to choose a career that will make us happy. This page is meant to give you the resources to find just that.
First you need to figure out what your strengths and weaknesses are. Then you need to figure out what you actually desire to do.
Are you promotion-focused? If so, look for a company that has a strong desire to advance their employees internally. I would consider a fast-paced industry with products and services that are rapidly changing. Job examples would be becoming a teacher or an architect.
Are you prevention-focused? If so, look for companies that offers you a sense of stability and security. Consider careers where your thoroughness and attention to detail are greatly valued. Job examples would be becoming an accountant, reporting analyst or a compliance associate.
Last option, do have a idea on a new product or service? Want to work for yourself? If this is the case become an Entrepreneur, where you would need both promotional and preventional skills. “An entrepreneur who is all promotion may get her business going, but she probably won’t keep it going for long, since she’ll be unprepared for the obstacles that will inevitably come her way. And the prevention-focused entrepreneur will get so bogged down worrying about obstacles that his business may never get off the ground at all.” says Heidi Halvorson, a Forbes.com contributor.
There is no reason you should be miserable at your job, there are so many options available to you. It’s up to you to do the work and figure out what your purpose is in life.
